DDAF Directory

Methodology & sources

This directory is built to be independently verifiable. Every figure is tied to where it came from, and gaps are shown honestly rather than filled with estimates.

Where the data comes from

IRS Form 990

Government filing (Schedule D). The gold standard.

Sponsor-published

Stated on the sponsor's own website.

Independent research

Determined by our research team, or inferred where not explicitly published.

Not yet collected

A gap in the long tail. Shown honestly rather than guessed.

Two tiers of data

Every listed DAF sponsor carries Tier 1 data -- identity and scale figures pulled directly from IRS Form 990 Schedule D -- and Tier 2 enrichment: fees, minimums, grant mechanics, and donor experience, researched from each DAF sponsor's own website and disclosures.

Which DAF sponsors appear

This directory covers the 150 largest U.S. DAF sponsors by donor-advised-fund assets. Filing year is shown next to each DAF sponsor's figures because not all 990s are filed for the same year.

On classification

DAF sponsor type is partly inferred from organization names and is being refined. DAF sponsors we have not yet classified appear as Unclassified -- a real category, not a missing value.

Independence & disclosure

This site reads only from its own periodically refreshed data export and maintains no live connection to any DAF sponsor or external system.

DAF sponsor names and logos are trademarks of their respective owners. They are shown here for identification in an editorial comparison and do not imply any affiliation with, or endorsement by, those organizations.
